Sister Rose J. Kroeger
January 22, 1920 - May 13, 2023

Passed away on May 13, 2023, at the age of 103 at Luther Manor in Wauwatosa.  Born on January 22, 1920, in Kansas to Henry and Anna (nee Meyer) Kroeger.  Rose entered the Lutheran Deaconess Motherhouse on September 12, 1951.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Milwaukee Downer College with a major in occupational therapy.  Sister Rose was installed as the Directing Sister of the Milwaukee Motherhouse and served in that capacity for fifty plus years and helped direct the health care mission of the Deaconess at Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee.  She was the last living member of Lutheran Deaconess Motherhouse of Milwaukee and now joins her Sisters in glory.  In addition to her professional duties, she enjoyed antiques, world travel, and was a gifted artist working in carving and intricate stitchery.  She designed paraments for Mount Carmel Lutheran Church and the Luther Manor Chapel.  Sister Rose is survived by nieces Darlene Anderson, JoAnn Tinder, and Marilyn Kramer; nephew Eugene Schroeder; and friends including Ramona Bartell, Pastor Sue Ruehle, and John Silseth.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Herman, Sophie, Fred, and Marie; as well as her fellow Sisters of the Lutheran Deaconess Motherhouse.  Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Faith and Education Center at Luther Manor, 4545 N. 92nd Street, Wauwatosa.  Private interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.  Memorials in honor of Sister Rose may be directed to Outreach for Hope Greater Milwaukee Synod or Mount Carmel Lutheran Church of Milwaukee.
