Nee Hoglund
On September 5th, 2023, after a brief illness, our loving mother, Kay was called home at the age of 95.
She was born in Wilmar, Minnesota to Hugo & Abby Hoglund and was the last surviving offspring of 11 children. As a young lady, she moved to Milwaukee. It was there that she met George Millard while dancing at the Eagles Ballroom. They married in 1949 and together raised 4 children. Unfortunately, George passed away at the very young age of 50. While Kay was learning how to live her life as a widow, she worked for 17 years at Marshall Field’s Department Store.
In 1994, she lost her dear friend Shirley. Shirley had made sure, before she died, that her husband, Gottfried, would stay in touch with Kay. They married and had 25 beautiful years together in which they traveled to all ends of the world. Gottfried left her alone again when he was at the ripe old age of 102. She spent the next two years trying to stay busy while waiting to be with George and Gottfried again.
Kay is survived by her children Greg (Christine) Millard, Lynn (Robert) Klemm, Scott (Catherine) Millard and Eric (Michelle) Millard. Grandchildren Jessica, Sarah, Robert, Christopher, Carrie, Angela, Justin, Christie, Stephanie, Kellie, Kathryn and Olivia. She was also blessed with 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Kay was also a loving Stepmother to Peter (Linda) Hotz, Charlie (Lynne) Hotz, and Suzanne Hotz and 3 more grandchildren Alex, Nick and Elise.
A celebration of a life well lived will be held at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10280 N. Pt. Washington Rd-Mequon on October 27th, 2023. The family will take visitors from 10 AM to 12 PM with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, Kay has requested donations be made to the Salvation Army, Milwaukee Rescue Mission or The Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve/Ozaukee County-WI appreciated
