(nee Kraina) Born to Eternal Life on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the age of 90. Beloved wife and soulmate of Dennis for almost 70 years. Loving mother of Susan (Scott) Haddix, Karen (Macario) Pascual and Mark (Cori) Herbst. Devoted grandmother of Lindsey (Tim) Mikulance, Lucas (Mandy) Haddix, Nicholas Pascual, Evan Pascual, Katie Herbst, Mitchell Herbst and MacKenzie (Dustin) Karpinski. Cherished great-grandmother of Graham, Calvin, Chase, Claire and Leirah. Further survived by other relatives and friends
Our mom, Patricia “Patti” Herbst was given the gift of ninety full years of life, one that is not achieved by many. In her younger years, she worked for Square D and Sentry Supermarket where she worked as a meat wrapper. Yet the most important role she fulfilled was as a devoted daughter, wife, mom, grandmother, and a friend to many.
She led a life characterized not by career or outwardly achievements but rather, by her gentle ways and kindness towards others. She enjoyed many hobbies: sewing, antiquing, baking, and reading cookbooks. She made Christmas magical and she had a passion for collecting Christopher Radko ornaments and memorabilia. The love of Christmas is something she passed on to all of us and she will be with us in spirit as we move forward in our lives.
She was also a true Green Bay Packers fan and could often be heard chanting “Go Pack Go!” while watching games, even as she progressed in age. We will miss her laughter, her selfless acts of love, and our yearly “Happy Birthday” phone calls in which she and our dad would sing to each of us. It has been difficult to lose her while we are still grieving for our dad but we take solace in knowing that she is right where she wants to be - with our father, her “honey” and in God’s loving arms. The tears we shed are not for our loss, surely we feel that but for the joy in knowing that they are reunited in heaven. And that we will all one day join them in God’s time.
We would like to thank our friends and family for your love and support. And we are especially grateful to Aurora Summit Hospital ER and ICU staff and physicians as well as Angels Grace Oconomowoc who made our mom’s final moments peaceful and loving. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to be made to St. Anthony the Hermit Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls, where our parents were parishioners and volunteers for years.
Visitation for Patricia will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Anthony the Hermit Catholic Church; N74 W13604 Appleton Ave; Menomonee Falls, WI. Private burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon.
