John E. Bartelt
December 25, 1940 - June 19, 2025

Born to Eternal Life on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of the late Suzanne (nee Ernster). Loving father of Kimberly (David) Best, Scott Bartelt, Todd (Julie) Bartelt, Eric Rohde and Christopher Rohde. Cherished grandfather of Caitlin (Andrew) Browning, Stacie (Joseph) Conery, Jacob Best, Mackenzie and Cole Rohde, and Bradley, Thomas, and Michaela Rohde. Proud great-grandfather of Teagan, Hannah, Madison, Emma, Ethan, Martin, and Luca. Dear brother of Mary Ann (the late Dale) Hoople, Robert (Delores) Bartelt and Donald (the late Diane) Bartelt. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Crescentia (nee Umhoefer), his first wife Carol Uschan, and stepson Bradley Rohde.

John’s presence, marked by a personality larger than life and a heart full of warmth, leaves a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He dedicated thirty-three years of his professional life to Briggs, where his strong work ethic and commitment were evident every day. Even after retiring from Briggs, his passion for staying active and engaged led him to continue working at Silver Spring Country Club for twenty years. His dedication to his work was matched only by the joy he found in connecting with others along the way.

Beyond his career, John found great happiness in spending time with family and enjoying the game of golf. He brought joy to many during the holiday season by playing Santa—a role that suited his generous spirit and cheerful demeanor perfectly. Known for being a good friend and a supportive presence, John’s outgoing nature and positive outlook made him someone people gravitated toward.

His sympathetic heart and loving character touched countless lives. Whether sharing laughter on the golf course or offering a listening ear during difficult times, John’s impact was profound and enduring. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire kindness, joy, and connection in their lives.
