Carol J. Gracyalny
March 11, 1940 - July 4, 2025

Carol J. Gracyalny (née Goffin), of Milwaukee, WI, was born to Eternal Life July 4th 2025 at the age of 85.

Devoted wife of George Gracyalny for 56 years. Loving mom of Rick (Cindy) Mattson, Laura (Dave) Tank, the late Terry Mattson and his wife Becky, and the late Tim Mattson. Loving grandma of Dan (Kim), Jessica (Jeff), Mike (Rachel), Katie, Matt (Kellina), Alex, and Connor. Proud great-grandma of Jack, Tyler, Cameron, Michael, Jeffrey, Mavis, Sam, Penelope, Armin, Kieran and great-great grandma of Forrest. Carol is further survived by her “big sister” Shirley (the late Harris) Eickmeyer, brother Gary (Jane) Goffin and many other family and friends.

Carol was born on March 11, 1940, in Menomonee, MI to Manuel and Margaret Goffin. On May 29, 1969 she married the love of her life, George Gracyalny. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and countless adventures. Their journeys took them across Wisconsin and memorable trips to Texas, Canada, Novia Scotia, Tennessee, New Mexico, Louisiana, and several National Parks in Wyoming, California, Arizona and Alaska. She spent many hours on the water as George’s “first mate” on fishing trips, always happiest to be by his side.

A natural caregiver, Carol spent many years working as a CNA in nursing home and home health care. She remained deeply devoted to her residents, often visiting those without family or friends long after her shifts ended. Later in life, as a non-traditional student, she returned to school and became certified as a daycare teacher. Of all her roles in life, her most treasured was that of grandmother—her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy and pride.

Carol was a gifted craftswoman, creating beautiful, beaded ornaments with her mother and mastering an array of needle arts including sewing, needlepoint, cross-stitch, quilting, and other fabric crafts. She was also an active member of her church quilting group. In the kitchen, Carol’s pies were legendary—blue-ribbon worthy and baked with a touch that only instinct and love could guide. To receive one of her pies was to be truly lucky.

Known for her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit, Carol had a rare gift for making friends wherever she went. She was quick to offer a compliment, eager to connect, and always found a way to bring laughter to those around her—even in challenging times. Her warmth and ability to find joy in life left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
