Sally J. Day
November 24, 1929 - October 27, 2025

Born November 24, 1929, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Sally was the daughter of Fred J. Day and Sally L. Day. She grew up on a farm on the north side of Lake La Belle where she spent her retirement years and passed, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on October 27, 2025.

Sally graduated from Milwaukee-Downer Seminary High School in 1947. She attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.  She graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She utilized her degree in Denver, San Francisco, and even spent time as a bookkeeper at the C Lazy U Dude Ranch in Granby, Colorado. She later became certified in Elementary Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and taught in the Milwaukee Public School System until retirement.

Sally was a prolific sportswoman. She was a member of the Milwaukee Tennis Club, the Okauchee Sailing Club, and the Vagabond Ski and Social Club. She embraced every opportunity to stay active and engaged. Whether taking a train to Sun Valley for a ski trip, competing as a speed skater, or racing her sailboat on Okauchee Lake, Sally approached every adventure with enthusiasm and courage.

Sally had a zest for life and a spirit for adventure.  Her travels took her to places like Athens, Paris, Singapore, Budapest, Prague, and Nigeria to name a few.  She often talked about sailing the San Juan Islands of the Pacific Northwest. Sally’s adventurous spirit never dimmed: Well into her late 80s, Sally even took a balloon ride over Waukesha County. And when she FINALLY stopped driving, she could still be seen pushing the limits on her golf cart.

Sally gave back to her community through volunteer work and cherished her time gardening, entertaining friends, and enjoying the arts. Above all, Sally Jane loved life—and she lived it fully, embracing each day with gratitude, curiosity, and joy.

Sally is preceded in death by her parents, her brother William H Day, and her sister Marjorie A Day. She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Karin (Brad) Matthiesen, Judy Cuff, Bob (Janet) Day, Steve (Karen) Day, Brian (Janet) Day, Tom (Julie) Day, Julie (Andy) Strickland, Peggy (Jason) Dvorak, and her great-nieces and nephews, Sara (Andrew) Matthiesen, Rebecca (Frank) Osario, Jacob Day, Jonathan Day, Willie (Megan) Day, Samantha (Ryan) Thinnes, Jason Day, Leslie (Kyle) Senescu, Emily (Graham) Stoner, Sally (Aaron) Thill, Jack Day, Olivia Day, Melanie (Jake) Strickland, Hana Strickland, John Dvorak, Alana Dvorak, and nine great-great-nieces and nephews

Lake Rd. in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where Sally was a lifelong member.  A reception at Zion Episcopal Church will follow and then she will be laid to rest at LaBelle cemetery at 1:30pm.
