Esther Louise Heier (nee Dettmering)

October 4, 1927 – December 12, 2025

 Proceeded in death by husband Gordon L Heier and daughter Cindy Smith (nee Heier) (Stan). Survived by son Daniel (Tamara) Heier, son Larry (Geri) Heier, son Thomas (Marlene) Heier, son Mark (Elizabeth) Heier, daughter Shelley (Kelly) Hawkinson (nee Heier), twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Beloved sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Family, friends and students will always remember Esther as the most devoted, loving, caring and generous person with the most infectious laugh.

Esther lived her fullest life in her amazing 98 years. She started her teaching career in the state of Idaho, Milton Junction WI and her final years at Richmond School, Wisconsin. In her early years she spent time as a stewardess and worked as a typist.

Esther had several hobbies -working crossword puzzles, drafting house designs, golfing, bowling and traveling. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

We were very lucky to have her in our lives for so many years. Esther will be truly missed by family friends and forever in our hearts and minds. Esther passed peacefully with her family by her side and is now surrounded by the loved ones who proceeded her in death.

Funeral services for Esther will be held January 17th, 2026 at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home Sussex, (W250 N6505 Hwy 164). The visitation will begin at 11:30 until the time of funeral services at 12:30pm. Private family interment at Lisbon Merton Union Cemetery.
