On December 29, 2025, the world said goodbye to Matthew David Zens.

Matt was the beloved son of David (Debbie) Zens, and Diane (Gary Hinze) Zens. Best friend and big brother to Eric (Amanda) Zens and Kim (Pablo) Chivichon and step-brother to Michael (Valerie) Muhonen.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Arthur Zens and Marilyn Zens, uncles Michael Staral and Thomas Fromm, and Aunt Carol Zens.

He is survived by his grandparents Alvin and Martha Staral and Dorothy Lingren. Aunts and uncles Jeff (Marie) Zens, Terrie Zens, Tim Zens, Lynn (Mark) Leonard, Kristine (Scott Simon) Staral, Peggy (Barry) Staral, Jenny (Don Sanford) Fromm, and Karen (Russ) Juneau. Also survived by cousins Ariana (Miles) Fristo, Lauren Zens, Chris (Brianne) Leonard, Jon (Rachel) Leonard, Michelle (Nick) Vigder, Bryan Staral, Nikki (Eric Robinson) Sciortino, Kevin (Alanis) Nash, Kyle Mikolajczak, Nicholas Juneau, Kaitllyn Juneau, Ryan Juneau and many other loving extended family members and friends.

Matt was born in Milwaukee, WI on February 1, 1985. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, an experience that required courage and sacrifice. Matt was a sports enthusiast and a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan who never missed a chance to cheer them on. He greatly valued time with family and friends, loving to engage in competitions such as poker, Catan, disc golf and pool. Matt was often described as a genuine good guy with the sarcastic “Zens” humor. He was a gentle soul who shared a special connection with his second cousins. Matt will be dearly missed by all.
