Fredrick "The Ricker" Lachner
November 9, 1944 - April 15, 2026

Fredrick “The Ricker” Lachner, age 81, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.

He is survived by his daughter, Melynda Wondra and son-in-law Jason Wondra, son Andrew Lachner and daughter-in-law Rebecca Lachner (Smerz).

Preceded in death by parents Frank and Maude Lachner and brother John “Jack” Lachner.

He was truly one of a kind—known for his quick wit, sarcastic humor, and ability to make those around him laugh. Easygoing and independent by nature, he took pride in doing things for himself and lived life on his own terms. Many have described him as “one of the good ones,” and anyone who knew him would agree.

He had a deep love for sports and was an avid fan throughout his life. He was especially proud of his involvement in fantasy football, often sharing that he and his late brother, Jack, were among the first to start a league in Wisconsin. He also enjoyed monthly card games with his longtime friends and was a surprisingly skilled cribbage player. In his younger years, he spent time bowling and playing softball—activities that created countless cherished memories for his family.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—scratch-off lottery tickets, watching the birds at the feeders outside his window, and feeding the rabbits in the yard. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved late cat, Rusty (affectionately known as “Rust Bucket”), and the family cats, who adored him. One cat, in particular, would only purr for him—a true testament to the bond they shared.

He will be deeply and immensely missed by all who knew and loved him, but his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with those who have gone before him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you make a donation in his honor to Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary (in West Bend, Wisconsin), enjoy a good laugh with family/friends in his memory, place a small wager on a scratch-off ticket, or simply spend time with those you love.
