Gisela Aschenbrenner, née Schuessler, joined her loving husband, Josef, in heaven on Wednesday, June 7th at the age of 84. Born September 21st, 1932 in Militinac, Yugoslavia (Croatia), her family moved to Braunau, Austria during WWII. After the war, in 1954, they immigrated to the USA, arriving at the port of New Orleans. Besides English, she was fluent in Croatian and German and was very proud to become an American citizen. She married Josef Aschenbrenner on May 11th, 1957 in Chicago, IL and they were able to celebrate 59 years of marriage together.
Gisela is preceded in death by her husband Josef; her parents Karl and Magdalena (Kolar) Schuessler; her stepmother Maria (Sever) Schuessler (Oma); her brothers Josef (Maria) Schuessler, Josef (Mary) Sever, a sister, and two brothers who died in infancy. She is survived by her children: Karl (Diane) Aschenbrenner of Eagle, Michael (Rita) Aschenbrenner of Mukwonago, William (Jody) Aschenbrenner of Rosholt, Linda (Ron) Callow of Middleton; her grandchildren: Rebecca (Devin) Bickner of Sheboygan, James (Emma) Aschenbrenner of Palmyra, Rachel (Stephen) Houk of East Troy, Nick Aschenbrenner of Waukesha, Andy Aschenbrenner of Mukwonago, RJ Callow of Middleton; her great grandchildren: Jack & Leo Bickner and Waylon & Camille Aschenbrenner; her sister Rosa Roth of Aachen, Germany; her sister-in-law Maria Schuessler of Fox Lake, IL; and other relatives and friends.
Gisela loved spending time with her family, gardening, flowers, feeding her birds, cooking, and baking.
Special thanks to the nursing staff at Linden Grove in Mukwonago for making Gisela’s stay there as welcoming and comfortable as possible.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church, 830 County Hwy NN East Mukwonago, from 10 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial at Oak Knoll Cemetery will follow Mass. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Gisela’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
