William Robert Taves of Town of Lisbon, passed away on July 10th, 2017 at the age of 70 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born on April 27th, 1947 in Milwaukee to Robert and Ruth Taves. He grew up in Brookfield and graduated from Brookfield East High School in 1965. It was there that he met the love of his life, Vicki Lautenschlager, and they married on August 19th, 1967. They had two children, Todd and Becky.
Bill loved the outdoors. He worked as a landscaper and finished his career at Gerber’s Nursery. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, biking, fishing, and most of all geocaching. He is fondly known by his friends as Mister Greenthumb.
Bill is survived by the sunshine of his life, Vicki, and his children, Todd (Debby) Taves and Becky (Doug) Oppermann. He was the proud “Papa” of five grandchildren: Emma, Evan and Eric Oppermann, and Ryan and Joshua Taves. He was the loving brother of Kris Fantetti. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Taves, and his brother Tom Taves. He is further survived by other loving family members and friends.
A private family service will be held at a later date. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held on August 19th.
