Ingemann, Mary Gifford, 93, formerly of Waterford, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2017. She was born on August 17, 1923 in Racine, WI to W. Allen Gifford and Jeanette Pugh Gifford.Loving mother of Margaret (Tom) Grimm of Menomonee Falls and Chris (Corinne) Ingemann of Van Dyne. Proud grandma of Sarah Grimm, Chicago, IL, Kate Grimm, Long Island City, NY, Christopher Ondercin, Madison, Joel Ondercin, Madison, John Ingemann, Ripon, and Dana Ingemann, LaCrosse. Dear sister of Margaret “Muggs” Wemmert, Racine, and Ruth Pugh Gifford Johnson, Madison, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by husband Robert R. Ingemann, parents W. Allen and Jeanette Pugh Gifford, brother John A. Gifford, sister Katherine “Kay” Mathews, and daughters Nancy Ingemann and Ann Ondercin.
Mary studied at Beloit College and Stout College and received her Teacher’s Certificate from the Racine Kenosha County Teacher’s College. She was a devoted teacher at St. Patrick’s grade school and Sacred Heart grade school in Racine.
Mary’s long life was full of travel, volunteer work and a voracious love of reading. She volunteered for many years for issues related to aging and elder care in Racine County and southeastern Wisconsin. She enjoyed traveling the world with her sisters and was always ready for a new adventure. Mary had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and had an inquisitive nature throughout her life
