Myra E. Humphrey
October 28, 1925 - October 16, 2017
        

Myra E. Humphrey (nee Maloney), 91, of Oconomowoc, passed away early Monday morning, October 16, 2017, at Shorehaven, where she had been a resident for the past year and a half. She was born on October 28, 1925 in Spring Valley, MN, daughter of the late Dennis and Hazel (Gahagan) Maloney. Myra’s father saw an ad in the newspaper for Summit Hospital’s nursing program, bringing her to Wisconsin.

On May 14, 1945, she married the love of her life John W. Humphrey at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Okauchee.  Following their marriage, she and John ran the family dairy and hog farm in Ixonia and raised their four children.  He preceded her in death on February 7, 2016.

She was a parishioner of St. Jerome Catholic Church where she was a member of the Bazaar Group and St. Jerome Sympathy Circle.  She was a St. Vincent de Paul volunteer for many years and volunteered at Shorehaven. Myra was a cooking leader for over 25 years with the Maple Street Hustlers 4-H Club and also belonged to the Happy Homemakers of Ixonia. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, cooking, painting, polka dancing, entertaining, and spending time with her loving family (especially her grandchildren).

Myra is survived by her three children: Joanne (Al) Daly of Covington, KY, David (Mary) Humphrey of Ixonia and Ellen (Kit) Deubler of Two Rivers, WI. She was the proud grandmother of: Nathan (Debbie) Daly of Highland Heights, KY, Chris (Jennifer) Daly of Covington, KY, Paul (Megan) Humphrey of Baraboo, WI, Monica Humphrey of Ixonia, Kaylynn (Greg) Rusch of Plymouth, WI and Alicia Humphrey of Audubon, IA, and great-grandmother of Aidan and Jake Daly, and Grover Humphrey.  Additionally she is survived by two sisters-in-law: Frances Richter of Watertown, WI and Helen Neitzel of Horicon, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: John, daughter: Clare Kapur and eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of Memorial Service at 11 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Shorehaven Chapel, 1305 West Wisconsin Avenue, Oconomowoc, WI. Chaplain Nick Slater will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Jerome Cemetery at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or Shorehaven.
