Born July 23, 1933 in Rockford, Illinois.  Died peacefully on March 21, 2018 in Naples, Florida.  Cherished husband of 62 years to Patricia “Tish” (nee Rainie).  Proud father of Hale (Mary), Woody (Betsie) and Tricia (Michael) Schelble.  Adoring grandfather of Dr. Allison, Ted, Peter and Sam Schelble, Elise and Bill Alverson.  Further survived by sister Molly (CJ) Fields, nieces Elizabeth (Dan) Bernhart and Allison (Greg) Phillips, extended family members, Andra and Kirsten, cousin Jim Porter, as well as many dear lifelong friends. 

Bill attended Princeton University, graduating in 1955.  He then served as a US Army Officer for 2 years.  He continued his education at University of WI Law School, Class of 1960. He was one of the early partners at Godfrey & Kahn Law Firm, and led the litigation practice for many years.  His legal career led to being President of the Milwaukee Bucks, Chairman of the NBA Board of Governors and Chairman of the Houston Rockets.  His volunteer efforts included serving on the boards of the Salvation Army and Cardinal Stritch and as President of the Milwaukee Rotary Club.

Bill was a member of Ozaukee Country Club, The Town Club, Club Pelican Bay, Gyro, YPO, and HH Ski Club. He spent many years enjoying Door County, Naples, golf, skiing, fishing, travel and his poker group. He loved humor and enjoyed sharing his wit.  A man of true character, humility, and incredible intellect, Bill always looked out for others.  

Visitation Saturday March 31 from 10:00AM until 11:45AM, with memorial service to follow at 12Noon at the funeral home.
