Paul H. Sokolowski
January 16, 1947 - July 11, 2018
        

Of Wauwatosa. Born to Eternal Life, Wednesday, July 11, 2018, age 71. Beloved husband and best friend for 36 years of Mary Callen. Dear brother of Mark (Colleen) Sokolowski and Jane Sokolowski. Fond uncle of Anthony and Elaine Sokolowski; Erin and Bryn Callen; and Courtney and Bridget Farley. Dear brother-in-law of Tom (Bonnie) Callen, Patty Callen (partner Sue Rieser), Phil (Anne) Callen and Kathy (Tom) Farley. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Violet Sokolowski; Mary’s  parents, Phil and Dorothy Callen, and his brother-in-law, Tim Callen.

Visitation Saturday, July 21, 2018  from 10:00am until time of  Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC PARISH, 1500 Wauwatosa Avenue, Wauwatosa. Private interment at SOUTHERN WISCONSIN MEMORIAL VETERANS CEMETERY, Union Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Froedtert Hospital Foundation Clinical Cancer Center or St. Bernard Parish appreciated.

Paul was born in Milwaukee on January 16, 1947 to Henry and Violet (nee Bartkowski) Sokolowski. He graduated from Don Bosco High School in 1965 and from Creighton University in 1970. Paul served in the US Army from 1970 to 1973 and retired in 1993 as a major in the US Army Reserve. Paul was also very proud of completing certification as a US Army Ranger.  He was married on August 22, 1981 to Mary Callen. Paul ran 175 marathons and Mary ran 162 with him. Paul was an avid history buff, a fearless adventurer, and a loyal and dedicated running partner. He was a long time Badgerland Striders Running Club member and volunteer from 1980 – present. Paul was also a member of the Wauwatosa Committee for Citizens with Disabilities from 2005 – present.  Paul retired from Milwaukee County after 25 years and recently retired again from the State of Wisconsin as an Ombudsman for the Board on Aging and Long Term Care.
