Passed away peacefully on December 6th at the age of 89 years. Son of the late Gilbert & Helen (nee Nuernberg) Imse.  Brother of the late Gerry (Jan). Beloved husband of the late Dorothy E. (nee Dedow).  Loving father of Mike (Mary Ellen) and Karen (the late Scott) Coley. Proud Grandpa of Dana, Nick, Brea, Matt, and Sam.  Great-grandpa of Jamye. 

John was an avid swimmer and was on the Shorewood High School swim team, where he also played classical piano.  He graduated from UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree.  It was there, as a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity working as a waiter in a nearby sorority house, that he met and fell in love with Dorothy.  They celebrated over 60 years of loving marriage.  After college he served in the US Army Signal Corp and as a reservist.  He worked in the construction, sales, and real estate industries for over 45 years, lastly with Federated Realty.  John embraced life.  He loved bowling (was a member of the Nut League, once the longest tenured league in Milwaukee and had TV appearances on Bowling with the Champs and Bowling for Dollars), softball, hunting, swimming, water skiing, spending time at the family cabin in Land O’ Lakes, and laughing with good friends.  John was a caring husband, father, grandfather & friend.  His memories will continue to shape us into the future.  

Visitation on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Alexian Village Chapel of The Holy Spirit 9301 N. 76th St. Milwaukee from 1:00PM until time of Service at 3:00PM. Burial will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Memorials appreciated to Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) (225 N.
