Oconomowoc, WI – Donna succumbed to her long and courageous battle with cancer on May 22, 2020. Beloved wife of Rick. Loving mother of Kyle (Christina) and Kerri (Brian) Van Rooy. Loving sister of Jim (Sharon) Kelleher and Janet (John) Kloc. Proud and loving Gigi of Sullivan, Fiona, and Connell. Loving sister-in law to George (Anneliese Richardt), Mary (Mike) Crokin, John (Liz), Robert (Ann), and Randall (Mary). Loving aunt of many nephews and nieces.

Donna spent her childhood years in Long Island, NY and her early adult years in Illinois (Glenview and Libertyville), before residing in Wisconsin for the past 30+ years (Wind Lake and Oconomowoc).

Her life-long career pursuit was Journalism; and, along the way, she wrote for the Chicago Sun-Times, Glenview Announcements (Tribune Co.), and Journal Communications (predominantly for her hometown Oconomowoc Focus). She concentrated on city politics, school, school board, and human-interest stories. Her work was celebrated with over 20 awards.

She felt blessed to call Oconomowoc home and to count many of the people she interacted with as friends; in addition to the numerous personal friendships she developed along her life’s path.

There will be a celebration of her life at a time later this summer or early fall. In lieu of flowers – please send contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
