It was so shocking news to hear the passing away of our beloved Babu Uncle. I came to know the sad news through Kuttan(Ponnanty's son) at 10:41 pm (ISD). Immediately I put it in our "Parayil WhatsApp group"
Babu Uncle was a real jem. He was having a number of qualities.
1,He had concern about others. When I was in Bombay (Mumbai) started my career as a High School teacher.I used to visit his home most of the Saturdays. Saturdays were holidays for me.I was staying in YMCA Coloba. His house was also located in Coloba. If I have missed to visit him one Saturday, by evening he calls and enquires whether I am feeling well or not.
2,Uncle was so frank and open hearted. We shared many things with each other hours & hours. As I like his nature, able to get along in a solid manner.
3,His hospitality can't be expressed in words. He welcomed everybody whole heartedly, with a smiling face, whoever visits his house.
4,Uncle was a spiritual person.
All members of my uncle's family& me altogether quite often go to Coloba Church. He was very particular to attend church service. He was involved in many of the Church portfolios.
5,He was a straightforward person. He didn't have a double personality. He respond on the spot with his genuine opinions.
6, We can't forget Uncle's helping nature. He accommodated many of our family members and due to his help all of them achieved good positions.
7,Uncle was so fond of keeping up the relationship. He used to call me even from the USA.
8,Uncle used to make others happy.
While remembering the past, uncle's figer never goes from the mind.In that time Praksh was studying. No words to appreciate Kunjumolammama's loving nature & Prakash's friendly attitude.
Though Uncle left us, he lives in everybody's heart forever.
One day we all have to leave this earthly life. When we reach eternity, Uncle will be there to welcome us.We can see him face to face and live forever.

We are sad to hear that Babu Appachan passed away. We always had fond memories of Babu appachan. He was a loving grandfather and very welcoming and joyful to us.

When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us.

May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now.

We extend our most sincere condolences to Ammachi, Prakash uncle, Karen aunty and the children.

I was in Bombay during the first half of the eighties. As a newcomer to a large metropolis, it helps to know a couple of people in the city. Achayan and Kunjumolammama were one of the families, I would visit on and off. Often, on a Friday evening, after work at Nariman Point, I would visit them in Colaba. Imbibing a few drinks, and enjoying a a home cooked meal would be a nice close to the work week. These are some the memories I will hold dear.

With a heavy heart, we place our condolences to Kunjumol ammamma, Prakash, Karen and Children.

We only have fond memories of him. I knew him personally since 1984. However Romy knew her Babu uncle from her childhood and that helped our bonding well with uncle and family.

With his amiable nature and his genuine concern for others he remained active in his local churches. He was a perfect host even during our surprise un -announced visits.

The memories of our visit to him, at Wisconsin, along with Tiji during October 2015 are still fresh in all of us.

We are comforted by the fact that he spent his last days in comfort, peace and in complete care of Kunjumol ammamma, Prakash, Karen and grand children.

Babu uncle has left a void that cannot be filled by anyone else.

His typical laughter still rings in our ears!

May God fill Ammamma, Prakash & family with His peace and Christian Hope!

Mohan & Romy

Fond Memories will always remain............................

Back on the memory lane post 1977 during my early career days in Mumbai, I still remember visiting Babu uncle, Kunjumolammama and young Prakash at their home in Colaba (Mumbai). Those visits were dear to me due to the warm hospitality, cheer, love and affection received, not to forget the grand food sessions that follows.

Time passed, and in December 2017 we shared some beautiful moments together again when Babu uncle along with Prakash came down to Fremont, San Francisco for my son's wedding and blessed the occasion. However I never thought that, it would be the last time meeting him. Babu uncle has left us for his heavenly abode, but his fond memories will always stay with us.
May God bless his family with the mental strength and courage in this hour of grief.

My sympathies to the entire Mathew family. We can never replace the loss of a loved one but we can always cherish their memories and honor them by caring for those they cared for and remembering all the good things they contributed to us.
