David A. Dubnicka
May 17, 1954 - December 14, 2020

Born to Eternal Life on Monday, December 14, 2020 at the age of 66 years.  Best friend and partner in crime of Deb Galles.  Loving father of Rachel (Paul), Chris, Nick (Megan), Jen (Rome), and Lindsey (Kurt). Beloved “Papa” of 9 grandchildren, Jayden, Evan, Ian, Madison, Mason, Addison, Ashlyn, Alivia, and Finnley.  Dear brother of Chris (Carl) Swanson.

Dave is proceeded in death by his parents Joseph and Jean (Susens), Brother Joseph (Joey), Sisters Diane and Barbara.  Further survived by other relatives and many great friends.

Dave worked as a large machine operator at Halquist Stone for 31 years and went on to other big projects after as a union member of the Local 139 Operating Engineers.

As many know about Dave, he was the jack of all trades.  There was nothing that he could not fix or build.  Dave lived in the garage, only slept in the house, and that was always where you could find him if you needed him.  His biggest hobby was cars.

In his younger years, he was known for building his racecars. He was number 82 with Dubnicka Racing.  Dave went to perform in races all over the state, but Slinger and Jefferson Speedways were his most frequent stomping grounds.

After his racing years were over, Dave set his mind to build his next two beauties, restoring his purple flame ‘41 Ford, aka the Grape, and his prized possession the 1941 Willys.  Prior to his passing, Dave won numerous car shows with the 41’ Willys all over town.  Everyone could see him coming from a mile down the road in the Willys.  He was so proud that he had finally finished his dream car, and his family members and friends were so proud of his accomplishments.

How can anyone describe the greatest man to ever live?  To know him was to know a legend.  There is no person around that hasn’t been touched by Dave in some way.  He always gave the best advice in the calmest manner, and life lessons were always learned even in short conversation.  He had the best sense of humor and always knew how to make everyone laugh no matter what the circumstances.

Dave was a Father of one, but a Dad of five.  Together with the love of his life, Deb, a unique family was built that can never be torn apart.  Without his presence the world will never be the same.

Dave’s family and closest friends would like to thank and appreciate the compassion and support we are receiving in such a difficult time.  Special thanks to Carl Swanson and Dave Ferkans for jumping in and helping with tasks that only “Papa” would know how to do.

Private services will be held at a later time.  We look forward to next hot rod season, when we can celebrate in true Dave fashion, with all family and friends.
