Carl H. Duwe
January 9, 1926 – December 31, 2020
Was Born to Eternal Life on December 31, 2020 at the age of 94 (just shy of his 95th birthday). Beloved husband of Delores A. Duwe for 60 years and loving father of Barbara (Timothy) Laken. Survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Lena Duwe, brother Roy Duwe and sister Doris Goodfellow.
Carl had a deep love of country, and upon graduating from Custer High School in Milwaukee he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he achieved the grade of Electronics Technicians Mate, 2nd class during WW II (1943-1946). He served aboard the USS Zaniah in the Asian & Pacific Theater of Operations. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict and served aboard the USS Sperry (1951-1952) where he was promoted to Electronics Technicians Mate, 1st Class.
Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, he finished his college education at Marquette University. After a short time as a buyer for Boston Store, he was employed by Philco Ford as a sales representative and was one of the first people on his street to have a color television. He held various sales jobs throughout his career and earned many awards including a trip to Hawaii for his honeymoon.
He was a man of deep faith and was a long-time member of St. James Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls, WI where he served as an acolyte and led new member orientation. He also was very active with St. Joseph’s Benevolent Society, serving 38 years as Treasurer.
Carl loved sports especially the Green Bay Packers, having been a season ticket holder from the early years in Milwaukee to Lambeau. Having been first-chair violin in high school, he developed a love of music. Milwaukee Symphony was one of the many musical events he enjoyed attending with Del and friends. He loved the songs of Abba, especially “The Way Old Friends Do”. Carl enjoyed numbers and Sudoku was one of his favorite pastimes.
He deeply loved his wife, daughter and son-in-law and enjoyed special friendships with long-time neighbors (The Rohlfing Family), relatives and many other special friends.
Funeral services will be held at St. James Catholic Church, W220 N6588 Town Line Road, Menomonee Falls, WI on Saturday, January 9th at 12:00 pm with visitation from 10 am until time of service. Committal service at Wisconsin Memorial Park with military honors following the mass. Please meet at the main entrance of Wisconsin Memorial by 1:30 in the Green parking zone for the procession to the grave site.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carl’s name to St. James Catholic Church or The American Cancer Society.
