Mary Ann Broehm
August 6, 1940 - January 21, 2021

Mary Ann (nee McHugh) Broehm, age 80, passed away January 21, 2021 after a short but courageous battle with leukemia. She was born on August 6, 1940 in Hortonville, WI to Arthur and Irene (nee Hofacker) McHugh. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert, on October 27, 1962 who preceded her in death in 1994.

Mary Ann graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1961 and worked her entire career with Dr. Herman Tuchman, a cardiologist in Milwaukee, WI. After retiring in 2002, the focus of her life became her grandchildren. She never missed one of their birthdays, sporting events or concerts and was always a willing daycare provider and babysitter. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Monica’s Parish for over 50 years. Mary Ann lived vivaciously and never passed up an opportunity to talk with people she met while standing next to them in line, sitting next to them on a plane or frankly, anyone who would stand still long enough to chat. She was extraordinarily kind and approachable, had many close friends and will be dearly missed.

Mary Ann is survived by her children: Sarah (Daniel) Patzer and Benjamin (Molly) Broehm; her grandchildren Hannah and Belle Patzer, Eleanor, Carolyn, Ruby and Harrison Broehm; siblings Millie McHugh, Patrick McHugh, Judith Swartz, David (Kay) McHugh, Susan Ashauer and Dennis McHugh and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Donald and Robert McHugh.

Mary Ann was laid to rest next to her husband in a private ceremony. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00AM at St. Monica Parish, 5681 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Whitefish Bay, WI 53217. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory to St. Monica’s Parish would be greatly appreciated.
