Passed peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the age of 67 years.  Beloved husband and best friend of Margaret “Marti” for 37 years.  Loving father of Christine (Kelly) Shaw and Erika Straka.  Special Papa of Cheyanne Elecktra, Kristian Shaw and Kaiden Shaw.  Dear brother of Lisa Balistreri and uncle to Olivia Cyr and Vinnie Balistreri.  Further survived by other relatives and friends, and special fur babies Darth and Dani.  Rick was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Vivian Straka, and Uncle Jerry Straka.

Rick worked many years within the education system of various universities before being able to enjoy his time free from work. Rick enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing up at his “happy place”, as well as watching and discussing history, sports and any other topics of interest, especially, while having a beer at the bar.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11 AM at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue, Wauwatosa with visitation to follow until 2 PM. The family asks that you dress casual, and bring your best stories/memories of Rick. At this time, please follow the CDC guidelines regarding social distancing and face masks.
