James (Jim) Howard, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2021, at home with his loving wife by his side. Beloved husband for 54 years of Kathy (nee Hoyer), caring and proud father of Valerie (Paul) and Jacqueline, dear grandfather of Jesse, Mayabella, Daisy and Nadia. He will live in their hearts forever. Son of the late Larry and Renata Howard and brother of the late Joanne Bruning. Further survived by his brother John (Sally), sisters Jane, Judy and Julie, special brother-in-law Sudhir (Barbara) and other dear relatives and friends.

After graduation from UW-Madison, Jim served two years in the U.S. Army. After a short career in manufacturing he started his own business doing wallpapering and painting which he pursued for the remainder of his working days. Jim enjoyed nature and the outdoors especially in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and spent many hours canoeing its rivers and lakes.

Visitation will be held at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home Wauwatosa on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM followed by a celebration of life at Noon. He will be laid to rest alongside beloved family members in Merrill, Wisconsin. A special thank you to the staff of the Grace Clinic at Froedtert and to the wonderful caregivers from Horizon Home Hospice for their kindness and support during his final journey. If desired, in lieu of flowers a donation in Jim’s name to a charity of your choice appreciated.
