Worked for Wes as a volunteer in Homebuilders in earlier days of Airventure, with pleasure, and visited him on occasion in the Forums area in later years. Fond memories, and saddened to hear of his passing.

I got to know Wes when Julie was at the Lutheran Home. Such a kind, happy couple- I think of them to this day! He and Julie are together again. My sympathy to you. Sincerely, Dawn

Dear Family of Wes Schmid, I worked with Wes on a few projects for EAA. Wes was a delight to be with, always carried a smile and a light happy disposition. I enjoyed seeing him when he visited the organization. God speed.

Sorry to hear of Wes’s passing. My condolences to the family. Wes was a friend I got to know through our commonality in aviation. Wes was a great guy and will be missed.

When I was about 6 to 8 years old I was fascinated for some reason by the bowl of mixed nuts set out one Thanksgiving in Wauwatosa. With obvious curiosity I watched Uncle Wes use the silver nutcracker and pick. He must've noticed because he pulled me aside and taught me the names of each type of nut. He also showed me how to use the nutcracker.

This is only one of many fond memories of Uncle Wes.

Walking into a room at family functions and seeing Uncle Wes was like walking into a warm hug!
