Ellen (Gleason) Hintze Brunette Born June 16, 1933 – Passed away peacefully in her sleep January 16th 2022.

Ellen was born June 16th 1933 to William and Harriet Gleason.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.  She married William (Bill) Hintze in 1952, they had five children Jennifer (Mark) Hahn, Kathleen Blum, David (Joan) Hintze, Thomas Hintze and Susan (Jeffrey) Warnke.  Bill tragically passed away in 1971 and daughter Kathleen in 2013.  She had 11 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. Ellen was also proceeded in death by her second husband Robert Brunette and was step mother to Jody, Robin, Jennifer, Holle, Quinten and Tracy.

Ellen attended Messmer high school and stayed in touch with her high school friends throughout her life. They were among her greatest treasures.  Her love of card playing which started with the Gleason family with Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews that lasted through her whole life with many different sheepshead, bridge card groups and parties.  Even MGC ladies volleyball ended with her besties group having a few beers and a few rounds of sheepshead. Ellen was an avid volunteer for school and church: Home and School Association, Girl Scout Leader, Girls’ Volleyball Coach, and Christian Women’s Assoc. Board Member.  She enjoyed family summer camping vacations that included lots of homemade treats.

Ellen married Bob in 1976.   Bob and his late wife, June, were friends and neighbors of both Ellen and Bill. Many summers were spent at the Brunette summer cottage on Wallace Lake, with lots of swimming, pontoon rides and, of course, sheepshead and volleyball. Bob also shared his love of tennis which Ellen learned and  continued on for many years playing with family and friends.

Ellen spent her remaining years in Menomonee Falls enjoying family and friends and especially her grandchildren.  Her last few years were spent at Riverview Village Senior Living.  She was asked to meet prospective residents to share her experiences and answer questions.  She also contributed to the monthly newsletters by writing interviews with other residents.

When life dealt Ellen some awful hands she always made the best of it.  She was a much loved and cherished person to many that knew her but mostly to her children and grandchildren. She was so strong for her family for so long and she will be greatly missed, but we know she is right where she has been waiting to be.
