Shawn passed away, at the age of 42, with his loving wife at his side. He is survived by his wife Rachel Sutfin (nee Houk), his mother Sharon Sutfin, his brother Steve Sutfin, his niece and nephew Brady and Amaya, and their mother Brook Outhout, his brother-in-law Dan Schmechel, his sister-in-law Alison (nee Houk), his niece Eleanor and nephew August. 

Shawn graduated from Madison West High School. He worked at Installer Tools in Madison until he moved to Mukwonago, where he worked for Walmart. He loved traveling with Rachel, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a heart transplant recipient, which granted him extra time with his family and friends. Despite being sick, he remained full of energy and enjoyed the time he had.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
