Katherine (Kathy) Byrne Flaherty of East Troy, WI, born on May 31, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY, died November 30, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her parents Leo and Elizabeth Byrne (Nee Marshall), her sister Mary Ellen, and the love of her life, husband Dan. Kathy graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy in Brooklyn, NY, and was a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Waukesha. She is survived by her children Daniel C. (Angie) Flaherty of Mukwonago, WI; Christopher (Julie) Flaherty of Davidson, NC; Patrick (Alphonzo) Flaherty of Silver Spring, MD; Kevin (Warren) Flaherty of Milwaukee, WI; and Elizabeth (John) Greene of Waukesha, WI. She adored being surrounded by her grandchildren Keara, Emma, Clare, Danny, Andrew, Gavin, and Corey, and great-grandson Owen. The family is grateful to kind neighbors Bill and Ivey, and Rick and Diane. Other survivors include her brother Michael (Carole) Byrne of Averill Park, NY, and a host of loving extended family. Kathy lived a happy life by being grateful for simple things like a good tomato, a full moon on a still night, a sunset over the lake, or a call from one of her kids. She is remembered for love of family, her delight in the music of Kris Kristofferson and The Wolfe Tones, her ‘Better than Snow’ cake, a lifetime of cooking for an army, daily crossword puzzles, an eye for antiques, birdwatching, her sense of fairness, and her Catholic faith. 

Visitation is December 8 from 4-7pm at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home at 930 Main Street, Mukwonago. The funeral service is December 9, 11am, at St. James Catholic Church (830 E. Veterans Way in Mukwonago, followed by interment and a repast.
