I had the absolute pleasure of working for Jim, taking care of him in his final moments. I loved hearing all of his stories the laughs we shared. He became like family to me, and so did Jill. He will forever be in my heart, and I made lifelong family members with Jill, Rex, Sky, Rover, and now Jewel. It was a pleasure working with his family. My deepest condolences to the Auer Family.

Grant to him eternal rest, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
I know our family is forever grateful for this wonderful doctor who gave our father many more years with us through his knowledge & many talents.
I know there are many families who surely feel that same gratitude!
May God comfort Dr. Auer's family & friends.

My deepest sympathies to Dr. Auer’s family. I owe my love of cardiovascular surgical nursing to Dr. Auer and Ellen Lewis. They trained us to care for heart surgery patients when the program started at St. Mary’s in Milwaukee. I learned so much from them. He was very tough … always focusing on the patient needs .. no excuses.
RIP, Dr. Auer. Thank you for starting up our CV heart program.

Great memories of Jim at St. Lukes and at St. Mary’s, Milwaukee….I was Head Nurse in ICU when Jim started his Open Heart practice at St. Luke’s and Cardiac Clinician when he launched the cardiac surgery program at St.Mary’s. I taught the ICU, pre-op, and post- op nurses at St. Mary’s to care for his patients. His passion for surgery and patients was paramount and occasionally he I would have “come to Jesus” meetings to solve challenges in navigating in complex practice environments. May God welcome Jim with open arms and bless his family as they grieve. I treasure my memories of a great colleague and friend. Rest in peace Jim. Ellen Lewis

Dr Auer's skill gave my father Albert (OBM) an additional 30 years of quality life. Heart bypass surgery was relatively unknown back in 1976.

My deepest sympathy to the Auer family. I also want to say thank you to Dr Auer for giving us an additional 20 years with our father. He performed a triple bypass on our dad in the late 70's. Rest in Peace.
