Of Germantown WI, after a courageous 13-year battle with cancer, died peacefully at The Kathy Hospice on Sunday, November 12th, 2023, at the age of 87 years. Adam was born in Diósberény, Hungary on July 31st, 1936, son of the late Joszef and Margaret (nee Schneider) Tillmann. Having met Theresa Balázs at the young age of 17, the two were married on May 10th, 1957. Together, they re-established their lives in the United States, arriving in Milwaukee, WI on June 26th, 1957. The very next day, Adam started a job in a bakery, work he very much enjoyed. Settling into life together, they welcomed three children and Adam transitioned from baking into foundry work to better provide for his family. A higher wage also helped Adam to fulfill his lifelong dream of having a big yard (though it was not the 30 acres he desired). In 1997, he and Theresa bought a home in Germantown, WI where he joyfully tended to his one acre yard for over 26 years. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, spending time with his family, and was always selflessly willing to lend a helping hand to others.
Adam will be dearly missed by the love of his life, his wife, Theresa; children, Theresa Freischmidt, Joseph Tillmann, and Margaret Kozeniecki; grandchildren, Andy (Cassi) Ritter, Joe (Nicole) Tillmann, Angela (Danita) Freischmidt, Amy (Shaina) Bushek, Michelle (Jon) Schneider, Debi Kozeniecki, and Marissa Tillmann; great-grandchildren, Angelina, Christian, Adam, and Emily; sister, Erzsebet; and brother, Antal “Tony.” He is further survived by other relatives, neighbors and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawerence and Joe; and granddaughter, Katie.
Per Adam’s wishes, private family services will be held on November 16th, 2023.
