Gene E. Schneider
July 29, 1933 - November 30, 2023

Gene E. Schneider 90, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, passed away on the morning of November 30,2023, after a brief stay at Linden Grove in Menomonee Falls.  Born on July 29, 1933 to Loretta and Elmer Schneider, he was the oldest of two children.  He grew up in Menomonee Falls, where he graduated from high school.   Following high school, after working in numerous jobs, he held a position with the Menomonee Falls Police Department for a brief time.  He then went on to work as an adjustor for Ohio Casualty where he was employed until his retirement.

Gene developed a love of sports in his early years, especially while captaining his high school football, basketball and baseball teams.  Following high school, he spent many years playing in the Land O’Lakes baseball league and then in many softball leagues.

After his marriage to Marilyn Houston on October 23, 1981, much of their free time was spent together golfing, skiing and bicycling.   They enjoyed an annual trip to Wisconsin State Fair to celebrate their birthdays, vacations to Europe, skiing in the Upper Peninsula, biking throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota and eating out.  Gene and Marilyn took great pride in their home and garden, spending many hours together making them look pristine.

Throughout his life Gene lived by the tenets he was taught as a child: be honest, always tell the truth, work hard and pay your bills.  Consequently, he was definitely regarded as one of the “good guys.”

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Jennifer and his loving wife Marilyn and Marilyn’s son Jeff. He is survived by his sister, Karen (Don) Center, nieces and nephews Christine Center, David (Stacia,  Campbell and Dane) Center, Carolyn (Earl and River) Dyer and “special father” to Deborah Skocir, Susan (Michael) Pretti, Andrew Bolda, and Christopher (Angela) Bolda.  Grandchildren include Emilie (Shaun) Murphy, Cameron and Drew Pellmann, Alex Pretti, Micayla Pretti, Hannah (Anthony) Schoenfeld, and Joseph Bolda.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Linden Grove and Horizon Hospice care for their kindness.  A special thank you to Terry Marcou at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral home for his compassion and assistance guiding the Schneider family in their funeral preparations for many years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral home in Menomonee Falls.  Visitation will be at 1:00 pm until time of the service. A private burial will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers a donation to your favorite charity is requested.

May his soul find eternal peace and may the memories of his life bring comfort to those who knew him.
