Kay S. Reuter
July 31, 1932 - January 14, 2024

Kay Joan Reuter (nee Sturm) passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024, at the age of 91. Kay was born July 31, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Jack and Marjorie (nee Black). Preceded in death in 2007 by her dear husband of 53 years, William R. Reuter Jr, Kay is survived by her children Bill (Stacy), Kitt (Scott) Foss, Beth, and Allison (David) Felstein; grandchildren Allison (Patrick), Nick (Christine), Dana (Joe), Jane (Jim), Dan (Angel), Erika (J.P.), Kitt (Todd), Max (Angela), Bryan (Teresa) and Anna; and great grandchildren Joni, Camp, Grey, Edna and Joy.

A 1954 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Kay soon thereafter married her college sweetheart, Bill, and became a longtime resident of Oconomowoc, Wis. Kay was an active member of the community, including serving as a teacher’s aid at Ashippun Elementary school for 25 years, joining the United Methodist Church (now Good Shepherd) and supporting their many programs, and mending books for the Oconomowoc Library.

In addition to reading, strumming her ukulele and playing ping pong, Kay enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, hosting weekly Sunday lunches at the lake, and keeping up with their many interests and accomplishments through the years. Beyond her love of family, Kay made and kept dear friendships throughout her life, remained curious and engaged and, above all, looked for humor in any situation. She was loved by many, will be remembered fondly and dearly missed.

A reception to celebrate Kay’s life is being held in Oconomowoc at Shorehaven’s Roehl Auditorium, 1306 W. Wisconsin Ave., on Thursday, January 25, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Waukesha Humane Society are welcomed.
