June A. Mortimer Henze
(nee Van Valin) of Mukwonago passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by family on January 23, 2024, at age 90.
June was born in Big Bend, Wisconsin to parents Albert and Sylvia Van Valin (nee Kingston). She grew up in Caldwell and attended school in Waterford. In 1952 June married the late Donald E. Mortimer and had 4 children, Deborah (Donald) Brinkley, Donald J. Mortimer, Daniel G. Mortimer, and Leila (Larry) Flintrop, 9 grandchildren: Michael (Sacha Speed) Morris, Joseph (Sara) Morris, Heather Shereck, Angela (Matthew) Brown, Kelly Shereck, Diana (Zack) Foster, Jon (Marcia) Mortimer, Jessica Kitzman, and Justin (Emily) Mortimer, 20 great grandchildren: Josephine June, Michael, Francesca, Maxen, Gregory, Kayla, Emily, Marshall, Ashley, Kaylee, Luke, Aggie, EBA, Grace, Ellie, Adriana, Aiden, Braxton, Lilith, and Abigail, and 3 great great grandchildren: Aiden, Myles, and Avery. Those who will also cherish her memory are stepchildren Lawrence Henze, Patricia (Nick) Nicholes, and Peggy Hurlebaus, other family members, and friends.
She and her family lived in Alaska and California for some time before returning to Wisconsin where she met and married the late Rex Henze in 1986. In Mukwonago, June was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 375 for many years, worked as a secretary, and for Seaquist Plastics.
June loved family gatherings and had a talent for oil painting which she shared with those she treasured most, her family and close friends. They were undoubtedly her greatest passion.
June was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rex Henze, dear son Daniel Mortimer, and cherished sister Jean Hulbert.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 1PM on January 30, 2024, at Caldwell Methodist Cemetery in Waterford (Hwy O, 1 mile South of Hwy L).
