Connie found peace on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the age of 74, with her loving husband Dan and other family members at her side.
Connie was born in Milwaukee on April 22, 1949. She is preceded in death by her parents Thaddeus 'Ted' Sowinski and Delores 'Dolly' (Fajkowski) Sowinski.
Connie is survived by her husband Dan and by sisters Carol (Mike Sauer) Babic, Claudia (Pat) Gauger and Collette (Art) Krueger. She is also survived by nieces Lili Babic (Jacob), Lauren (Jonathan) Simmons, Angie Babic, Lisa (Eric) Neeb, Jessica (Kevin) Janosch, Lindsay House. Further survived by sister-in-law Chris Schlosser, brother-in-law Steve (Deb) Schlosser, and sister-in-law Tina (the late Ken Schlosser). Loving Godmother of Kevin Bokma. Special friends of Nancy Bokma and Nancy and Karen Chuck.
Connie was a Great Aunt of Haley, Brooke, Ayden, Sydney, Quinton, Bo, Silas, Theo and Thalen.
Connie retired from the phone company after a 30-year career. She was a long-time fan of Auto Racing, which is how she and Dan met. She worked as a volunteer in the Media Center at the Milwaukee Mile for several racing seasons. She was also a fan of the Milwaukee Admirals hockey team and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Connie enjoyed taking trips with her sister Claudia. Favorite places were the Badlands and Black Hills of South Dakota and Gettysburg National Monument in Pennsylvania.
A visitation and brief service will be held for Connie from 11 am to 1:30 pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue, Wauwatosa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Connie’s name to the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary, the Gettysburg Foundation or to Happy Endings No Kill Cat Shelter are appreciated.
