Karen A. Schmid (nee Beyer)
January 3, 1944 - February 7, 2024

Born to Eternal Life on Feb. 7, 2024 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of Donald Schneeberger. Loving mother of Daniel, Christopher (Jill), Michael, and Deanna (Don) Fulton. Cherished grandmother of Jeremy, Nicholas, Ryan (Ellie) and Maria Schmid, William, and Elijah Fulton. Dear sister of Bonita (the late Thomas) Brunker, Dennis (Sandra) Beyer, Gloria (the late Fred) Gamroth, and Linda (Bill) Barnekow. Sister-in-law of Mary and Laurie Beyer. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and Donald’s children, Patricia (Gary) Wicker and Linda (Greg) Shifflett. Karen is preceded in death by her 1st husband of 41 years Richard Schmid and brothers, Ronald and James Beyer.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, Karen attended Solomon Juneau High School where she met Richard. Together they raised 4 children. Karen always found fun and had a zeal for living an active, religious and social life. Once the kids were older, Karen fully enjoyed working beside her sister Bonita, preparing taxes and wrapping up that season in time to hit the golf course.  Karen was an avid golfer, playing in several leagues per week. After beating breast cancer, Karen was determined to live life to the fullest and became the model of living fully with heart disease. For 17 years, Karen traveled a miraculous path of one heart procedure after another to keep her playing kickball with her grandchildren, water skiing at the family cabin, playing in the annual family Thanksgiving Day football game and golfing nonstop. In 2017, after 13 years of a single lifestyle Karen entered into marriage with Donald. They spent winters in Key Largo, introducing Karen to a whole additional set of friends through church and golfing.

Karen made one heck of a final run and died peacefully with family by her side.
