Harold C. Schmid, a resident of Germantown, was called home to the Lord on February 26, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on August 10, 1938, in Granville, WI, Harold was embraced in the Lutheran faith, receiving both baptism and confirmation at Mt. Lebanon Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Harold's life was a testament to his enduring spirit of service and craftsmanship. He found joy in utilizing his diverse skills and array of tools to mend and enhance whatever crossed his path. He found companionship from Bootsy, their loving cat and he found peace and contentment at his favorite get away which was the cabin up north.
In his youth, Harold dedicated himself to community endeavors, notably contributing to the Lutheran Boy Pioneer program and playing a pivotal role in establishing Pine Ridge campground. His altruism extended to his involvement with Builders for Christ, where he lent his hands to construct meaningful structures across the nation.
An avid believer, Harold found solace and fulfillment in sharing his faith. He often took to Facebook, offering daily doses of spiritual inspiration to his online community. Harold was a steadfast member of St. John's, Lannon, and later, Bethlehem in Germantown.
Beloved husband of Maggie for 19 years. Loving dad of Michael (Lisa), Gary (Brenda) and Linda (Tim) Martin and stepfather of Doreen (Bryan) Mishler, Sarah (Jason) Hosmanek, Crystal (Bill) Neu and Gary (Rebecca) Olson. Proud grandpa of Kayla (Anthony), Amanda (Mike), Erin (Derek), Kristin (Eric), Jonathan (Hugo), Brenna (Nick) and Kylie and step-grandfather of Ella, Masen, Jaxen, Aria and Avi. Great-grandfather of Noah, Caleb, Liam, Evan, Adalyn and Rae.
Harold's memory will be cherished by his surviving siblings Henry, Hazel (Chuck) Ewert, Gordon (Yvonne), and George (Barbara), along with countless other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy and siblings Lorraine, Florence, Evelyn, Alice, Ralph, and Byron.
Harold's legacy of service will be honored at a visitation held at the FUNERAL HOME, N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051, on Saturday, March 16, starting at 12:00 p.m., until the time of memorial service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pine Ridge Campground, Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Builders for Christ are appreciated, symbolizing Harold's enduring commitment to causes dear to his heart.
