Douglas Charles Silkworth, beloved husband and father, entered eternal life on May 8, 2024, at age 81.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Donna; loving children Richard and Nicole; grandchildren Sophia, Reagan, Ruby, Madeline, and Reese; and among many many more, great friends Mike Geboy, Bob Brandemuel, and Terry Knurr.
Douglas was a New Year’s Day baby born to Charles and Elizabeth (nee Povlovich) Silkworth. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and became part of what is known as the “kiddie crew” – go in as a teenager and complete your period of active duty in three years before age 21. Doug was discharged when JFK was assassinated. Before returning to his home state of Michigan in November of 1963, Doug met Donna in Los Angeles…it was love at first sight and this is when their story began. Donna then returned to Mukwonago, Wisconsin the following March where the couple married in 1964. They bought their home there, laying roots down in 1967, which is when their son Richard was born followed by their daughter Nicole in 1970.
Doug worked at Generac for some time before he decided that he was tired of having a boss. This decision led him to purchase Waukesha Power Equipment from Ollie Herron in 1983. After running the business out of various rental spaces, Doug and Donna built on West Av. in Waukesha. In 1999, they decided the best home for their business was in Mukwonago, building at 970 Greenwald Ct. This is where it stands today as a successful company run by their son Richard, who had a great teacher!
Going on many cruises and taking trips in their motorhome brought Doug and Donna much joy. Great times were had on their travels together creating many cherished memories. Last summer, Doug’s health began to decline when they went to Scotland and Ireland. After Thanksgiving he was in and out of the hospital several times, followed by nursing homes, and finally hospice care.
Doug loved fishing and hunting, especially in Alaska and Canada. He was also a dedicated fan of the Packers and Bucks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mt. Olive Lutheran church are greatly appreciated.
