Daniel J. Kuhn
October 11, 1952 - July 25, 2024

Daniel J. Kuhn, of Germantown, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Diane. Dear Dad of Matthew (Kathleen), Jonathan (Shelly) and Jason (fiancée Genevieve Goetz). Proud Opa of Benjamin, Nathaniel and Kathryn. Dear brother of Joanne (Dick) Dolezalek, Kathi True, Susie (Jerry) Schneider, Dolly (Nelson) Kovatch and Dennis (Kim) Kuhn. Dan was a devoted public servant for more than 30 years, serving the Milwaukee Police Department as an officer and sergeant, and later as supervisor of the department’s Background Investigation Section. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1974 and graduated from the Milwaukee Police Academy in 1976. Following his retirement from the department in 2006, Dan returned to the background investigation section for several years, working as a police service specialist investigator. In 2011, Dan received a new lease on life when his wife Diane donated one of her kidneys to him. The family would like to thank Sherri Maas, who was Dan’s post-transplant coordinator for many years at Froedtert Hospital and took wonderful care of him. Most of all, Dan loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved cheering on and supporting his grandchildren at their athletic games and activities. He had a remarkable memory and was an expert trivia player, always impressing those around him with his vast historical knowledge. During his career with the Milwaukee Police Department, Dan lost two partners and dear friends in the line of duty. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) – Wisconsin Chapter would be appreciated. Funeral services for Dan will be held Aug. 17, 2024 at Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel of the Chimes with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 2:30 p.m
