In Memory of Karen Alice Thomas, our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.
Karen Alice Thomas of Mukwonago found Eternal Life on August 30, 2024, at age 80.
Karen is survived by her loving children; Son Kevin (Sandra) Poje and grandchildren Ian (Malory), Jacob (Brianna), and Gavin; and great grandchild Parker Jane; Daughter Stephanie (Chris) Rauls, and grandchildren Matthew and Jackson; Son Mark (Tracy) Poje, and grandchildren Elizabeth, Katherine, Victoria, and Cole; Daughter Amy Lanning and grandchild Hannah; and Daughter Amanda (Samuel) Woodard.
Also left to cherish Karen’s memory are her beloved friend Chris Litwin and her dear church family at First Congregational Church of Mukwonago whom she loved very much. As a friend and woman of faith, sharing her time, conversation, and worship brought her great delight.
Karen was born to parents Lawrence and Lillian (nee Scopinski) Rothe in Milwaukee, where she, in addition to Vernon WI. then raised her own family. Karen later moved to both North Carolina and Florida before returning home to Mukwonago in 2017.
With a fondness for the outdoors, Karen enjoyed fishing in Northern Wisconsin as well as sightseeing in the Smoky Mountain’s while she lived in Raleigh, North Carolina. Crafting all her life, Karen’s special handmade Christmas ornaments will be treasured by all. She also enjoyed crocheting and had recently finished blankets that she gifted to her family.
Karen had a genuine love and affection for animals including her adored cat Lilah and loyal dog Tug. It comes as no surprise that the sheep she raised while on the farm in Vernon WI all became pets, and that with pleasure she fed all the chipmunks and squirrels outside her home daily.
Karen is proceeded in death by her parents Lawrence and Lillian Rothe, brothers Donald and David Rothe, and her beloved husband William Thomas.
What undoubtedly brought Karen the most joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be on September 13, 2024, at 4PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 5PM at First Congregational Church of Mukwonago (231 Roberts Dr).
