Lenore Ann Tolsma
July 2, 1938 - October 14, 2024

(née Merop) Lenore Ann Tolsma of Menomonee Falls went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 14, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 2, 1938, to Leonard and Helen (née Kovaly) Merop in Passaic, New Jersey, and was their only child. Throughout the years, she worked as a secretary, and she retired from her position as Wisconsin Field Secretary for Prison Fellowship in Milwaukee in 2000. She would say, though, that her favorite jobs were wife, mother, and grandmother.

She grew up in Community Church in Garfield, New Jersey, the same church as her husband, Cornelius (Neil). They got to know each other better when they were in choir together. She and Neil sang in the Billy Graham Crusade choir in Madison Square Garden in New York in the summer of 1957 and introduced the hymn “How Great Thou Art” to America. They married on August 29, 1959. The Lord blessed them with sixty-five years of marriage.

She supported them as Neil went to college and when they moved to Philadelphia for Neil to attend Westminster Theological Seminary. In 1965, they relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where Neil pastored Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and they moved again in 1974 to Menomonee Falls, where she lived the rest of her life. She had been a member of Falls Orthodox Presbyterian Church for almost fifty years.

Lenore enjoyed cooking and baking, providing hospitality, and flower arranging. She was known for daily walks, and she was out walking earlier on the same day of her final hospitalization. She also was committed to taking care of Neil and was a true Proverbs 31 woman.

Lenore is survived by her loving husband, Neil; daughters Christine (Douglas) Cain, Carolyn (Gregory) Tews, and Elaine (Richard) Harlow; grandsons Brian (Cecilia) Cain and Daniel Harlow; and granddaughters Sarah (Isaac) Soriano, Olivia Harlow, Alyssa Cain, Rebecca (Dylan) Moore, Hannah (Mark) Overmeier, and Jonalyn Cain. She is further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 19 at Falls Church, W156N7356 Pilgrim Rd, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up with the Obadiah Fund, which supports retired pastors and their widows in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Donations to the fund can be made at https://give.opc.org/ministerial-care-detail/obadiah-contribution.
