Jerry was born May 11, 1929, on a farm near Rolfe, Iowa. He was the second oldest of eight children, and after a few moves in his early childhood, his family settled on a farm in Floyd, Iowa. After some post high school jobs in farming, construction and masonry, he joined the Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed on a boat in the Mediterranean Sea which gave him the opportunity to serve his country and visit many places in Europe. After his Navy discharge, he spent a year at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, before heading to Milwaukee to attend Marquette University where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. In his post college years, he enjoyed spending time on Pewaukee Lake and ski trips with the Vagabond Ski Club and the CAC, where he met his wife, Adrianne. He spent his entire professional career with the Wisconsin Gas Company where he retired as a research department manager and throughout those years, continued to be involved with the Marquette Engineering Alumni Association. He and Adrianne raised their family in Wauwatosa where they lived on the same block for over 50 years and were members of Christ King parish. He enjoyed taking care of his homes, building things, fixing things, gardening, fishing, hunting, and a few years of wine making. After Adrianne's passing in 2023, he moved to St. Camillus where he met a few new friends and was settling into his new place. Throughout his many years and locations, he kept ongoing strong ties with his large family and with the friends he made along the way.
