Kay Kathleen Schwab
May 30, 1942 - October 22, 2024

Kay Kathleen (Kietzman) Schwab, 82, of the city of Brookfield, WI, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Brookfield Lutheran Church, 18500 W. Burleigh St., Brookfield, WI. Kay’s family would love for you to join them afterward to share memories and a meal.

Kay was born on May 30, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI. and was the only child of Harvey and Goldine Kietzman. When she was a young child, they moved to Westfield, WI, into Harvey’s parent’s home. Kay always had a strong work ethic which was demonstrated at a very young age when she and her friend, Janet, grew an acre of cucumbers in order to earn money for Kay to purchase a pink leather jacket. She had a lifelong love of dogs, starting with her first dog, Penny.

Kay was awarded valedictorian from Westfield High School and continued on in her education to earn a nursing degree and became a registered nurse where she lovingly and proudly served for nearly four decades. Kay’s love for nursing was only trumped by her love for her three sons, Dave, Pete, and Tim. She somehow balanced working full time and cooking amazing meals for three hungry boys. Even more importantly, following in her parent’s footsteps, Kay actively served in her church and taught her children to love and serve Jesus Christ.

Kay loved to do arts & crafts, garden, read, and do crossword puzzles. Tragically, in 2008, she suffered a stroke and was lovingly cared for by the staff at Ascension Living Franciscan Place for 16 years while blessing them in return with her beautiful smile and constant giggles. The family is incredibly grateful for their compassionate care.

She is survived by her sons, Dave (girlfriend, Ginny) and Pete (Julie), grandchildren Cassandra, Samantha, Zachary (Jenna), and Laura, and her great grandchildren Brooklyn and Sylvie. She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Timothy.
