Mom was an extraordinary baker. Her heart went into her breads, cookies and cakes. Mom was known for her famous cheesecakes. She loved to share them with everyone she knew. And she waited eagerly to hear feedback on how it tasted. To us, mom was famous for her Christmas cookies. There were always way too many to count. Mom loved the tradition of baking Christmas Cookies with us and with her grandkids as well.
Mom was passionate about gardening and her flowers. From early years to her last summer with us, she put so much time, effort and love into her beautiful flower beds. And over the years she began collecting hummingbird feeders to add more beauty and life to her flower sanctuary.
For as long as we can remember, mom loved sewing. She was an incredible seamstress. This included sewing hundreds of beautifully crafted dance costumes- staying up all night, many nights to complete with perfection. As a grandma she sewed dance skirts, wagon accessories, and the most beautiful stockings you’ve ever seen.
Many of our best childhood memories with mom were those spent outside. She loved summer and sunshine. We spent time biking on the trails near home and swimming from sun up to past the sunsets she so deeply loved. And anytime we went on a beach vacation, mom always came home and said “I’m moving there.”
As we grew and developed our own passions, mom was a dedicated soccer mom, track mom, wrestling mom, dance mom and football mom. She encouraged us to pour our heart and soul into everything we did. Although she loved her kids a tremendous amount, her calling to be a grandma was undeniable. She loved spending her retired years with her grandkids. From teaching them her baking skills to sharing her passion for reading and books.
She spent a total of 10 years in Seattle. She treasured her time there with Eirik’s family and with her older sister, Lyn. They went on countless adventures, (her favorite being hunting for trolls) they shared time in the kitchen, and they shared a love for music and movies. They had an unbreakable bond.
We know many people deeply loved our mom, she put her soul into helping and healing. Constantly worried about her friends and family and what she could do to help.
Her memory will live eternally in our homes and hearts. Her presence and love will be deeply missed.
~ We promise to raise our children in your memory and make you proud. We will see you in heaven mumma
~ Love you the most. The end. I win.
