Passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 2, 2025 at the age of 94. She was born December 20, 1930, in Canasgordas, Colombia S.A. Beloved wife of Antonio for 58 years. Loving mother of Joseph, Richard (Meg) and Mia (John) Cabino. Dear grandma of Benjamin, Zoey, Gabrielle, Rachel, Emma and Gina. Sister of Solina Garcia and the late Alicia, Enriqueta, Jorgelina, Robertina, Lia and Olivia. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Maria immigrated into USA independently in 1958 by the help of the Conley Family working as a nanny in Glencoe, IL. Maria worked for many years as a custodian at Concordia College of Milwaukee & also worked for the Shiely’s family in Wauwatosa, WI. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning her US Citizenship in 1989.
Maria was a deeply religious woman; she devoted time each day to prayer and was an active member of St. Rose of Lima. Known for her kindness and generosity, Maria was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her unconditional love, strength of spirit, and boundless generosity were evident in the care she gave to her family, friends and neighbors. The greatest joy of her life came with the arrival of her grandchildren. Maria enjoyed many hobbies: gardening, feeding every morning to the birds, squirrels & chipmunks, babysitting, karate, traveling & going to sporting events to watch her kids, cousins & grandchildren playing.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice Care (Brookfield) for their kind, compassion care and the comfort that they provided during Maria’s final days. She was loved by so many, but especially by her 6 grandchildren.
Visitation on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Funeral Home from 11 AM until the time of Memorial Service at 1 PM. A Luncheon will follow, offering an opportunity for loved ones to gather in fellowship and share cherished memories.
