Harriet A. Zuehlke
April 21, 1934 - March 5, 2025

Harriet Alura (Snover) Zuehlke, Sullivan, WI, was called to heaven by her Lord and Savior on March 5, 2025.  She was 90 years old.  Her strong faith in God, commitment to her family, easy going smile, quiet demeanor, and determination will have been an inspiration to others.

Harriet was born on April 21, 1934 to Charles and Onidia (Hoffmann) Snover in Milwaukee, WI. Harriet was baptized on May 20, 1934 at St. John, Mukwonago. They soon moved their young family of three to Mukwonago, WI where she lost her father in a motorcycle accident while he was on duty as a police officer.  She was 15 months old.  She and her mother eventually settled in Sullivan, where she lived the rest of her life.

Harriet was confirmed on June 13, 1948 at St. John’s Sullivan.

After graduating from Oconomowoc High School, she married Kenneth Zuehlke on May 22, 1954, who she met at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sullivan.  They worked together as dairy farmers, raised their four children, and hosted several foreign exchange students on the family farm near Golden Lake, now a Century Farm.  Harriet loved her big garden, the farm animals, sewing, cooking, 4H, being involved in church, her family, and welcoming others into their home.

Harriet worked for Bethesda Lutheran Home after moving off of the farm.  At the same time, she began organizing and leading a group of ladies from church, who made an average of over 100 quilts each year, and then donated them to mission groups and shelters.  This continued on for 30 years, and until two months before her death.  Another of her favorite things to do was hosting family dinners and gatherings to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and any other excuse for a family event.  She was happiest “when all of her chicks were under her wings.”  Her grandkids loved her bottomless cookie jar.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, and she passed away on the 20th anniversary of his death.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy, and son-in-law, George Wright.  Survivors include her children Connie Wright (special friend, Lee Dodge), Carol Zeman (Randy), and Wayne Zuehlke (Lee), eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sullivan on March 15, 2025 at 12:00pm with lunch to follow.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of service.

The family suggests memorials be given to AngelsGrace Hospice, Oconomowoc, or the memorial of your choice.

The family wishes to thank hospice for the loving care they gave Mom the past month.
