It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of LaRae Dawson Donehoo, beloved wife, mother, and friend. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
LaRae was born on December 18, 1955, in Birmingham, Alabama to Raymond Earl Dawson Sr. and Imogene Elisabeth Colvin. She grew up in Ensley, Alabama. Her early years were marked by a deep love for music and photographs, a passion she carried with her throughout her life. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Psychology.
On June 18, 1983, LaRae married Robert Donehoo, beginning a beautiful journey and together, they built a home filled with love. Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Robert Donehoo, who stood by her side throughout their 41-year marriage; her children, Robbie IV (Laura) Donehoo and Kristi (Nickolaos) Wehlau; her grandchildren, Robbie Donehoo V, Zechariah, Alethea, Jedidiah, and Elizabeth Wehlau; sister RaNae (Al) Meadows, cousin Thersa Bozeman and a wide circle of relatives and friends who were touched by her kindness and resilience.
LaRae was a woman of extraordinary warmth and generosity. She touched the hearts of everyone she met, always offering a listening ear, a kind word, and a loving hug. Her commitment to her family and friends was unwavering, and her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Despite the challenges she faced, LaRae exhibited remarkable strength and resilience, managing her disabilities with grace and courage. Her battle with multiple sclerosis never diminished her spirit nor her commitment to her family and friends. Her ability to find joy and purpose in life, even in the face of adversity, serves as an inspiration to us all. Her love and dedication to her family remained steadfast. Even on her toughest days, she ensured that her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and loving support. LaRae's legacy is a tribute to her indomitable will and boundless love, qualities that will continue to inspire her family and friends.
In her free time, LaRae enjoyed following Alabama football (can we get a big Roll Tide – Go Bama), shopping consignment stores, basket weaving, taking pictures of family, and talking with friends and family, often sharing these passions with loved ones. She had a special talent for making homemade salsa and was known for her sweet southern disposition. LaRae leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on March 19, 2025 at Falls Church (W156N7356 Pilgrim Rd, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051) from 10am until time of service at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the MS Society.
LaRae, you will forever be remembered for your boundless love and the light you brought into our lives. May you rest in peace
