Carol Jean Wiensch (née Holmes), 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregivers and friends during her final days.
Born on March 15, 1936, in Chicago, Carol’s life was guided by faith, kindness and dedication to her family and community. After graduating from Oshkosh High School, she attended Downer College in Milwaukee where she developed a love for languages and teaching that was present throughout her life. She taught both French and English upon graduation. She relished word games, good grammar and reading, and in the last few she years took great joy in writing stories about her life, much to the delight of those around her.
Ever a teacher, Carol taught adults and children alike how to swim, read, work an apple press, host a dinner party and tell a good joke. The pinnacle of her lifelong learning was her involvement as a docent at the Milwaukee Art Museum where she found a community of like-minded art lovers and educators. She spent many happy hours learning, giving tours and supporting the museum.
Carol was devoted to her husband and children and focused her many talents on creating a loving and happy home for her family. She is survived by her children Adam (Lee) Wiensch, Jessica (James) Senecal, Megan (Daniel) O’Keefe and Caroline (Raja) David. Her warmth and humor will live on in her adoring grandchildren: Daniel, Devon, Ted, Lauren, Carolyn, Sophie, Liam, India, Mia and Siri. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James.
The family would like to thank Pat Vogt and Carol's exceptional team of caregivers for all their work, love and devotion over the years.
A visitation (10:00 AM) and funeral mass (11:00 AM) will be held on April 7, 2025 at The Milwaukee Catholic Home (2462 N Prospect Ave., Milwaukee).
