Regis, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and air force veteran, passed away on March 6, 2025 at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer. Born on November 22 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he led a life marked by service, love, and dedication.
After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served 4 years. His commitment to our country was evident through his role as crew chief of a radar group stationed in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, keeping our northern boarder safe. This where he met the love of his life his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth (Betty or to him Bets) who preceded him in death. He loved serving his country and was a very proud veteran. He was proud to be a part of a community that defended our freedom.
Following his military service, Regis attended Pittsburgh University. He later earned a BSEE in engineering and MSEE in engineering from Marquette University. He spent 12 years in night school to achieve his goals while taking care of his family. He worked for GE Medical System and Marquette Electronics Inc. for over 35 years as a project engineer designing medical equipment such as EKG machines and software which is still used today. He also loved teaching college level mathematics at various schools in Pittsburgh and Milwaukee area.
Regis enjoyed racing cars, working at the track, and flying planes with his grandson. He loved flying so much he was taking lessons to earn a license as a private pilot. Regis was a avid cyclist biking all over south-eastern Wisconsin, he also loved to read any military or history book he could get his hands on. He cherished his family and loved spending as much time as he could spoiling his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He leaves behind his brother Tom (Toni), sister Sharyn, sons Darren (Jeri Lynn) and Daniel (Kristen), Grandchildren Darren Jr. (Marissa), Nicole, Britney, Savannah, Danielle, and Kyle, Great Grandchildren, and Grand dogs.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home (10121 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa, WI 53226) from 10AM until time of service at 12PM. Entombment to follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
