Carolyn Rilling
March 22, 1940 - March 16, 2025

Carolyn passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, March 15 - just short of her 85th birthday; it was a surprise since she actually appeared to be doing well after an extended three week hospital stay.

She will be sadly missed by her extended family of four sons, ten grandchildren, and one great grandchild, which include Bill & Kate (Perelli), along with their three children Nick (& daughter Zyzyx), Gabrielle, & Nate; Rick & Jenny (Allen), along with their two children Tayler and Jack; Bob (deceased) & Janet (Draeger), along with their three children Ally, Marcus, and Summer; and Jim & Barbara (Nguyen) along with their two children Toby and Mia.

Carole cherished her family dearly and really enjoyed her in-depth conversations with her grand-children, whom she loved "to the moon and back". She loved people in general and had a way of making everyone, even strangers, feel special. She made everyone around her feel important and cared for. She was always planning ahead for birthdays and holidays (Christmas shopping in July)...and would have the ideal thoughts and gifts for every occasion. Despite being a busy mom and grandma, she still found time to do "much more for the world" than most people. Her capacity for empathy was one of her greatest gifts.

After she graduated from UW Madison in Nursing, she started her family,...but soon realized they needed pre-school education above and beyond what parents normally do at home. Unsatisfied with existing options, she and her friend, Penny, created their own pre-school, known as "Early Childhood Enrichment Center". After ten years of dedication to children, Carole joined Family Service of Milwaukee, a social service organization, where she and Jean Moorland created a unique Nurturing Program that helped disadvantaged families pull themselves out of difficult situations to become happier and productive families...mostly by building their self-esteem. In the week she died, Carole still felt the Nurturing Program - if properly funded & implemented could help many, many more people in our society; bless her heart!!

Carole was a lifelong learner - carefully following and admiring the efforts to advance the frontiers of human knowledge in science, medicine, space and beyond.

In lieu of flowers, please give generously to your favorite Humane Society; Carole loved animals, especially her Boston Terrier, "Bucky" or to the Diabetes Foundation; Carole thinks a cure is near!

Plans are being made for a "Celebration of Life" for Carole.
