March 29, 2025 | Age 41

Dr. Theodore G. Schrubbe, known as Ted to his family and friends, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 41 years old.

Born on August 21, 1983, in Wauwatosa, WI, Ted was the beloved son of Kathy (Karioris) and Glenn Schrubbe. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Darcie (Schmitt) and their two beautiful daughters, Colette Ava and Arabelle Calista. Ted is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, his brother, Nick (Julie) Schrubbe, their children Macy and Mia; and his sister, Angela (Bill) Daniels, their children Josphine and Gwyneth; and his grandmother, Evangeline Karioris.

Ted is also remembered by Darcie’s parents, David and Debra Schmitt and her siblings, her brother, Daniel (Becky) Schmitt, their daughter Sophia; her sister, Diana (Matthew) Korkko, their children Trevor, Lilia, Dylan; her sister Deette (Scott) Hodek, their children Brett and Logan; and her great-nephew, River Korkko.

From an early age, Ted exhibited exceptional talents, thriving both academically and athletically. His deep passion for learning ultimately inspired him to pursue a career in dentistry. After graduating with honors from Brookfield East High School in 2001, he joined Marquette University’s esteemed pre-dental scholars program. During his time at Marquette University School of Dentistry (MUSOD), Ted’s hard work and dedication earned him a spot on the Dean’s List, further demonstrating his commitment to excellence in his studies.

His thirst for knowledge took him to the Eastman Dental Center at the University of Rochester, where he researched salivary proteins. He later represented the university at the American Dental Association’s Annual Session. Ted’s excellence in research seamlessly translated into his clinical work, where he became known for his artistry in dental care.

Ted earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from MUSOD in 2008 and went on to practice in Waukesha before co-founding Brookfield Dental Care in 2015 with a fellow Marquette graduate. Throughout his career, Ted remained dedicated to advancing his skills, always seeking the latest innovations in dentistry to provide the best possible care for his patients. He was an active member in his professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association and served as an officer in the Waukesha County Dental Society.

Ted was not only a skilled professional but also a devoted husband and father. In 2011, he married Darcie, the love of his life. Together, they built a life filled with love and happiness. Ted found his greatest joy in his family—whether traveling to exotic destinations, sharing peaceful bike rides, enjoying the Milwaukee Ballet, attending Marquette and Milwaukee Bucks games, or watching his daughters' school events, dance performances and musical recitals.

In his free time, Ted was an enthusiastic gamer, an avid cyclist and had a passion for race-car driving. In 2012, Ted began his annual trips to watch the Formula 1 races with his father every October.  He also treasured going to Road America with his dad and brother for track days.  He was a true Renaissance man, capable of tackling everything from auto mechanics to home remodeling to computer system development. He was always there for those who needed help, whether it was a big project or a small task.

Ted's loyalty to his family and friends had no limits. He put others before himself, leaving a profound and lasting impact on everyone he encountered. His compassion, generosity and unwavering commitment to those he loved will never be forgotten. Ted’s legacy of love, kindness and selflessness will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Ted’s life was a testament to the power of family, service and passion. He will be deeply missed but always remembered with love and gratitude.
