Keithers, I love you good buddy. You will always be in my heart.

Old buddy, this hurts. Gotta be real. But making it… barely.

So happy a year ago we & our wives could visit together at your beautiful home on the lake. And to see an April Wisconsin snow storm falling from the sky. Covering the trees. And laughing raucously about old times…

Starting in third grade. Wilson, John Dewey, Central. Walking, biking & much later driving together to school. That ‘69 rusted out Mustang which gave us a nice view of the pavement as we drove to Central. From the holes in the floorboard. While we rode inside the car.

How you showed me to how to play billiards in your basement. How I showed you how to play ping-pong in my basement. How you showed me from 5th grade to 9th grade how to play trumpet. How I showed you how to play poker from 7th grade to 11th grade.

We’ll call our all-time cribbage matches even. Sadly — forever tied now…

Remember our 2 fish stories from Hunter Lake? Both from that same early morning rowing out. First, losing the big one as we missed it repeatedly with the scooping net. And then seeing it break free around the anchor rope (which we forgot to pull up).

And then just minutes later catching that “small” (by comparison) 4 lb Walleye. Who spit out the hook when we scooped it up on the first try.

Your father’s personality & jokes. Your mother’s love for your little poodle “Happy.” Your mother Alice scolding your father not stopping with the gags: “Dale, Dale… that’s enough” with eventually a twinkle in her eyes.

The old family farmhouse when we visited your elderly grandfather. Who sent a small amount of money every day to a different charity. And usually had a stuffed mailbox to prove it. So kind-hearted.

Keithers, I would love to be at your funeral Tuesday. I’m so tired. From my years of being a hospice chaplain (you knew how to work hard as a CPA, for sure buddy). Also tired from… my mother-in-law dying 2 days ago.

But she’s with you in heaven now. With Jesus. Our Savior. By faith…

Thank you, Lord. For rising on that first Easter. For life beyond the grave.

Keith, we’ll start a new heavenly cribbage match series there. So very, very sorry I can’t make your funeral. But will see you soon.

I love you good buddy.

Lori, Ben, Brad & family… So very sorry for your great loss. Strength, comfort, and prayers for you. Keith loved you all so very much.

Our sincere condolences & just wish we had known Keith longer! He & Lori became good friends on last year’s Danube River Cruise with Viking.
